Texas A&M University-San Antonio is one of five schools selected for Generation Esports’ 2022 Learn and Build STEAM (LABS) program.
The LABS program supplies 25 esports labs to middle schools, high schools, and colleges across the continental United States to help integrate esports into their communities, providing opportunities for their students and educators.
As winners, A&M-SA esports program receives six gaming computers and all necessary peripherals, such as keyboards, mice, and headsets; and two esports coaching certifications for educators. The program is dedicated to promoting gaming as a beneficial activity for students in the University community and beyond.
“Receiving these six gaming stations is an incredible boon for our program – we will continue to succeed at the highest levels of collegiate esports and create great content for our community,” said A&M-SA Head Esports Coach Aaron Jaggers. “Six additional gaming stations empower TAMUSA Esports to host events at the collegiate level, for local high schools, and our community at large.”
Founded in 2020, the program will host Generation Esports on campus in the fall semester to collaborate in building the new gaming PCs. Generation Esports is a nonprofit dedicated to building community through gaming, education, and charity. The nonprofit runs the largest league for high school esports and is rapidly growing middle school and college leagues.
