A lot of sides have one up with a couple of wide men, or sometimes there’s even been no one up – thanks to Pep Guardiola and his false nines! In my playing days, it was pretty much always two up. Usually it was a big man with a runner around him. Le Fondre has been key to it. I know there were eyebrows raised when he signed in the summer. Listen, there was no doubting his quality. He’s had a great career and scored goals wherever he’s been.
Obviously Vente is not a kid at 25 but he will learn from his experienced wingman and I’m excited about what’s to come from these two and hopefully seeing this relationship blossoming. Hibs have been crying out for this kind of partnership for years and I love seeing two guys up top linking up.
