The Taliban in Afghanistan blocked women from taking college entrance exams that were deemed"too difficult" for women, including exams in engineering, economics, geology, and journalism.

The gathering in Kabul came two weeks after a suicide bombing occurred at an education center in the capital city that targeted women preparing for the exam. The bombing killed 53 people and wounded 110 others. Women in other parts of the country took the exam two weeks ago. A spokesman for the Taliban's Ministry of Higher Education said the decision came from individual schools and not the department or extremist regime.
