GWANGJU, South Korea - Britain’s Duncan Scott said he was unaware he had been issued a warning by swimming’s governing body FINA over his refusal to shake Sun Yang’s hand at the medal ceremony for the 200 freestyle on Tuesday.
Scott, who finished fifth in the 200 individual medley heats on Wednesday after he withdrew from the 100 freestyle, caused uproar after he shook hands with the other medalists but completely blanked the Chinese swimmer. “I’ve got no clue. I’ve just literally swam,” Scott told reporters when asked about the warning. “I don’t know as much as you guys right now.”
