Two nonprofits are prepping and sending bags of soup mix to help feed more than 19,000 people.
Haiti remains on the U.S. Department of State's"No Travel List." The island nation has been plagued by kidnapping, crime and civil unrest. Much of the aid sent to Haiti is not getting to those in need. Instead, it's being stolen by gangs. Now, two non-profits with Lancaster County ties are working to change that.Volunteers at Blessings of Hope have spent the last few months cleaning, chopping, and prepping produce that would otherwise be thrown away.
From Blessings of Hope's dehydration center, the soup mix will be flown to Haiti through Barnabas Aid. Jeremy adds,"It's a country that's just desperately poor and desperate in need of help ... we can't even send food by ship because the ports are all controlled by the gangs."
