The object was “rendered safe” around 9 p.m. Tuesday, per San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
SAN JOSE – A suspicious package prompted an hours-long closure of the San Jose Diridon Station on Tuesday, authorities said.
Around 4:30 p.m., a Caltrain conductor reported a suspicious package at the station, said Detective Javier Acosta of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office, which is responsible for policing Caltrain, dispatched deputies to the scene. Acosta said the deputies also found the package suspicious and called the San Jose Police Department Bomb Squad for help.
The Diridon Station, which serves as San Jose’s central passenger rail depot, was partially closed following the discovery of the package and fully evacuated around 5:30 p.m., Acosta said.
