Police arrested 68-year-old James Kirkwood after they noticed a vehicle while conducting surveillance on the South Side matching one that they said had been involved in previous robberies over three days. Detectives then followed Kirkwood to multiple stores around the area where he attempted to open door handles of businesses that were closed, police said.Police said Kirkwood then drove to a store located in the 2100 block of Zarzamora, where officers said the saw him rob the store with a firearm. Police arrested Kirkwood shortly after the incident. Police said no shots were fired.
