“I know no-one who was unable to get out of Lahaina could have survived and that scares me. My community is now gone, my people are missing, burned, or homeless, and I’m not sure if I have a home to get back to.”that reduced much of Lahaina to smouldering ruins was the worst natural disaster in the state’s history, leaving thousands of people homeless and levelling at least 1,000 buildings.
