Super Mario Bros. Wonder launches on the Nintendo Switch on October 20th, ushering in a new era of 2D side-scrolling games in the series.
It’s been a long time since the last side-scrolling Super Mario game, but it was worth the wait. Super Mario Bros.
Wonder — the first mainline entry in the series since 2017’s Super Mario Odyssey — builds on the classic NES and SNES games with a hefty dose of strange new ideas that dramatically change up the experience. The game also caps off a big year for the plumber, following the debut of the Super Mario Bros. Movie and the Super Nintendo World theme park in Los Angeles, and it might just be the last major release ahead of the Switch’s incoming successor.
