The British and Indian prime ministers have met at the G20, with a free trade deal on the agenda. Meanwhile G20 leaders have reached a compromise on the Ukraine war after diverging views threatened to leave the summit without an official declaration.

A second visit to India is being discussed for later this year, with hopes a deal may be reached then. Elsewhere at the summit, leaders granted permanent membership to the African Union in an effort to make the G20 more representative.
