Summer Spurs edged by Warriors in down-to-wire affair
LAS VEGAS – Temperatures soared to more than 110 degrees in Sin City on Sunday, but the Spurs might as well have been in 70-degree San Francisco with the way the crowd at Thomas & Mack Center favored the Golden State Warriors.
Golden State led by the final score after Jonathan Kuminga sank a free throw with 8 seconds left. The Spurs had a chance to win, but first-round guard Blake Wesley lost the ball in a crowd of defenders as the clock wound down. The Spurs fell to 0-2 in Summer League play, but Johnson left the UNLV campus glad his squad was involved in such a tight affair.
Days finished with 17 points, a game-high 13 rebounds and two steals in 23 minutes off the bench. Josh Primo finished with 10 points, but missed 13 of 15 shots from the field.
