The city of Sugar Land and Fort Bend County have joined forces to ensure that animals receive proper veterinary care.The city of Sugar Land and Fort Bend County have joined forces to ensure that stray and homeless animals receive proper veterinary care.

According to the agreement, Sugar Land will transport city animals to and from the Fort Bend shelter in Rosenberg and provide a licensed vet, if needed. The county will provide the surgical room, support staff, supplies, and all medications necessary to perform the surgeries. Chapter 828 of the Texas Health and Safety Code states animal shelter agencies may not release a dog or cat for adoption unless the animal has been sterilized.
