Rose Ayling-Ellis paid a heartfelt tribute to late disability campaigner Judith Heumann in a message shared on Instagram on Sunday
March 05, 2023 - 19:45 GMT Diane Shipley Rose Ayling-Ellis took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday with a heartfelt message following the sad death of disability activist Judith Heumann at the age of 75.
A wheelchair user, Judith sued the state of New York to be allowed to become a teacher and became one of the leading voices of the disability rights movement. She has since campaigned to encourage more widespread use and acceptance of British Sign Language, becoming emotional when a bill to have the language legally recognised was passed by Parliament.
