The ballroom legend has ditched the BBC studio in favour of her charity effort
Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas is facing her "worst fear" in order to raise funds for suicide prevention charity Campaign Against Living Miserably .
Shirley told the Echo her fear of heights pales in comparison to what those struggling with mental health are faced with on a daily basis. She said: "There's nothing more terrifying than one more person lost to suicide." "What I don't want is people suffering in silence. I feel like my brother suffered alone because back then people didn't talk about it and there was no information."
She added: "This is why I'm doing difficult challenges. Unless you have lost a family member to suicide I don't expect anyone to know what it feels like so if I can get this information out about CALM, that's all I can ask for.
