Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery is sticking to spooky roles with the new movie Went Up the Hill. He'll co-star with Vicky Krieps in the film.
Stranger Things actor Dacre Montgomery has signed on as a lead in upcoming horror movie Went Up The Hill. The Australian actor had first joined the stellar cast of the Netflix show for Stranger Things season 2 as Billy Hargrove, Max’s stepbrother. His character starts out as a bitter teenager but traversed through an arc becoming the man of the hour by the end of season 3.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Went Up The Hill, directed and written by Samuel Van Grinsven and co-written by Jory Anast, is being produced by Samantha Jennings and Kristina Ceyton of Causeway Films, an outfit that shares other notable credits from the same genre namely The Babadook and The Nightingale. The film is currently in pre-production and is likely to be developed in New Zealand very soon. As the project starts to come into fruition, the movie has added some big names to its cast.
Dacre Montgomery's New Role Seems Similar to Billy From Stranger Things With this, Montgomery has landed another role as a troubled character in a supernatural setting, something synonymous with Stranger Things. Soon after the release of Stranger Things season 2 in 2017, Montgomery's character became a quick fan-favorite. In 2019, he returned for the role in the third season, and most recently, Billy appeared as a guest in Stranger Things season 4.
However, there does lurk a red flag. Montgomery is still famously remembered as Billy, an evil teenage boy who by the end of the show bagged the status of hero with fans showering love for Montogmery in various art forms. Fresh off this craftily-done portrayal, the star headlining in a similar role could run the risk of retreading familiar territory.
