Stocks suffered small losses Thursday, weakening following a report that Washington was unlikely to extend a waiver that allows U.S. firms to supply equipment to China telecom equipment firm Huawei.
Concerns over a House impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump was also cited for the weaker tone. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.30% fell around 76 points, or 0.3%, to end near 26,894, according to preliminary figures, while the S&P 500 SPX, -0.24% lost around 7 points, or 0.2%, to close near 2,978. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, -0.58% ended near 8,031, falling raound 47 points, or 0.6%.
