Stocks ended with solid gains Thursday, buoyed in afternoon trade following a report the U.S. could delay the implementation of tariffs on all imports from Mexico that were due to take effect next week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.71% rose around 181 points, or 0.

7%, to end near 25,721, according to preliminary figures, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.61% gained around 17 points, or 0.6%, to finish near 2,844. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, +0.53% rose around 40 points, or 0.5%, to close near 7,616. Bloomberg reported that the U.S. is considering delaying the threatened tariffs as talks continue over efforts to halt the flow of undocumented migrants and drugs from Central America.
