A 'Spectacle of Light' event will be held this afternoon with music, a light show, and fire performers on the waters of the canal.
A new foot and cycle bridge connecting communities in the north of Glasgow has finally been completed with the opening to be celebrated with a lighting spectacle this weekend.
The £14m active travel bridge provides important new linkage between the communities and also opens up routes to leisure and employment opportunities in the west end and city centre.The bridge itself is a curved design with a viewing platform and the main foundation pile sits on the east bank at Ruchill sweeping north to Gilshochill and south to Maryhill.
Further landscaping and the artistic style of the bridge have been added to make it a prominent structure in the area which will provide increased access for walkers, runners, and cyclists.
