Stephen A. Smith doesn’t want to hear about Tom Brady’s new broadcast gig with Fox Sports – at least until the quarterback is physically in the booth.

“I think he is absolutely going to be great,” Smith continued, praising Brady for landing. “He deserves it. I am happy for him. But I am interested in seeing him play. I could give a damn about him in the booth in the booth right now.

“Do we really give a damn right now? … If he was retired and he’s in the booth it’d be a different, but with him about to play, do you really care?”pivoted to the Sixers-Heat NBA playoffs series, ESPN analyst and former NFL defensive end Marcus Spears called Smith “so biased” over his comments about Brady.

“If they made an announcement while Michael Jordan was playing for the league, that he was going to work on the TNT team, you’d have 30 minutes on the damn show about it,” said Spears. Smith his part of the broadcast crew for TNT’s “NBA Countdown” show. “I don’t give a damn until he’s actually doing it,” Smith replied. “When he’s doing it, I’m watching, I want to see. Is he going to be as good as Tony Romo? Whatever. But until then, he’s got a season to play in Tampa Bay, I’ll see you when you get there.”

You know what would be a great way to exit? How about if Tom Brady goes and wins the Super Bowl in Phoenix on FOX and then says: “I am now officially a member of FOX.”
