Erby set the record on an 85-yard pass to Durrell Caesar Jr.
Just six days after setting the Pennsylvania state record for career passing yards, passing former South Fayette quarterback Brett Brumbaugh's 11,084 passing yards set in 2014, junior quarterback Alex Erby of Steel-High High School broke another record on Thursday night.
Heading into Thursday's matchup against the Newport Buffaloes, Erby needed seven touchdowns to break the previous record set by Central Martinsburg's Jeff Hoenstine at 146 passing touchdowns. Erby did just that in the third quarter with 4:50 left when he connected with Durrell Caesar Jr. on an 85-yard touchdown to give him the state record of 147 career touchdown passes. Steel-High went on to slaughter Newport, 67-12.
