There's some really good advice from Water Safety Scotland.
With summer looking like it's finally starting to arrive, Scots are no doubt eager to head to lochs and lakes to cool down.
New water safety promotions targeted at areas with a higher risk of drowning, as well as improved signage at popular locations including lochs and reservoirs are included, as are targeted lessons for school pupils about water safety.Water Safety Scotland is also to receive £60,000 to help with their campaigns.
- Keep in mind that Scotland’s Waters can be very cold, even in the summer, which can lead to cold water shock- Don't go swimming while under the influence; alcohol/drugs and coastal or inland waters don’t mix - they can reduce coordination and impair judgement and reaction times
