A Waukegan elementary school delayed its opening by two hours Monday as a precaution after two online threats were made against the school, according to School District 60.
Classes were set to begin at 10:30 a.m., and the district advised students and their parents that bus service for Glen Flora would be running two hours behind the normal morning schedule.
“We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding this morning,” the district said. “Our school district and the Waukegan Police Department take threats of this nature seriously, and each threat must be fully investigated to ensure the safety of students and staff.”The message from the school district did not provide details of the threats. Waukegan police referred an inquiry to the school district.
