With it set to conclude the show, Brec Bassinger reveals Stargirl's season 3 finale was shot with two alternate endings. The CW series was one of the last in the Arrowverse, even with its existing on a parallel universe, as Nexstar's acquisition of the network led to the near-complete cancelation of the remaining shows in the superhero universe.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY While appearing on an upcoming episode of The Wayne Ayers Podcast, out November 16, Brec Bassinger revealed that Stargirl's season 3 finale was shot with two different endings. The series lead said that, with so many changes at The CW and Warner Bros.
"It will make people sad because the fourth-season idea was insane. Like, it would have been epic. And I actually believe that’s why it took so long for us to officially get the cancelation news. With audiences still reeling from the Jordan reveal in the latest Stargirl season 3 episode, one can only hope that one of the multiple endings shot for the series finale pays this off in satisfying fashion. Given the show was nearly set to conclude on a major cliffhanger, it seems likely that Stargirl and her JSA will successfully defeat their foe come the end of the series, an unfortunate by-product of the Warner Bros. Discovery merger.
Though the show's premature cancelation is sure to leave some disappointed, Bassinger and her Stargirl showrunner's desire to conclude the show on a solid note is sure to come as a soothing one for fans of the series. Whether this is the right ending for the show or not, it wouldn't be the best ending possible. As the soon-to-be-former Arrowverse actor said, the ending Stargirl gets come December is one that wasn't meant to be.
