Star Wars canon has brought back a crucial Sith planet ruled by some of the greatest Dark Lords of the Sith - what does it mean for the future?
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Star Wars canon has brought back the ancient Sith planet Thule, a world linked to the greatest Legends Sith Lords of all time. There was a time when the Sith Empire ruled the entire galaxy. The Sith Empire seems to have been centered on Coruscant itself, but its true power lay in several important Sith planets - worlds that were steeped in the dark side of the Force.
As seen in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, even Palpatine used dark side vergences to his advantage. Exegol is the perfect example, a place where the boundary between life and death - the veil between the physical plane and the netherworld of the Force - is unusually thin. But it was far from the only Sith planet; there were far more, and Delilah S. Dawson's novel Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade brings one back from Legends.
The canon version of Thule seems to share much of this history. It appears in Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade, with Jedi Knights Iskat Akaris and Tualon Yaluna running a mission to the world. There, Iskat finds herself drawn to an ancient altar - one she deduces is a Sith shrine.
Thule's Canon Role Supports A Star Wars Sith Theory Thule's role in Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade supports a theory that Star Wars has brought back the ancient Sith species. In Legends, the original Sith were a red-skinned alien race steeped in the dark side of the Force. Iskat Akaris bears many physical similarities to the Sith, as well as their proclivity toward the dark side, and the Jedi seem very wary indeed of her learning her true heritage.
In Legends, Thule was originally colonized by the Sith species. The same could easily be true in Star Wars canon as well, explaining why Iskat Akaris finds herself drawn so powerfully to the dark side power of the Sith shrine. It isn't just that she finds the dark side seductive; it is that she shares a metaphysical connection with the shrine, because it was established by her own people.
