Committee investigators said Trump’s next step in summoning rioters to Washington was a December 19 tweet that invited supporters to a “big protest in D.C. on January 6th” thatCommittee vice-chair Liz Cheney, a Wyoming Republican, said his invitation came the day after Trump strategized at the White House with a group that included General Michael Flynn and attorneys Sidney Powell and Rudy Giuliani.
Childress said the Justice Department described how the Proud Boys created a chat called “the Ministry of Self-Defense Leadership Chat,” where they established a command structure in anticipation of coming back to DC on January 6th. Their strategy included individuals occupying key buildings around the United States Capitol, he said.
He said the committee learned that Tarrio and Rhodes met in a parking garage in Washington, D.C., on the night before the riot.
