A long, suffering Blues fan weighs in on the team’s stunning Stanley Cup run
A few months ago, I planned a June trip home to visit family in St. Louis. I never expected to see the Blues there, still alive and playing for a Stanley Cup.
After all, this is the St. Louis Blues! They once threw the puck into their own net in the playoffs. They traded for Wayne Gretzky—and then ran him out of town. They made the postseason for 25 straight seasons and didn’t get to the finals. Their team name is literally a synonym for melancholy.
