His road to an Opening Day roster spot is clear with the A’s after being drafted off the Dodgers’ roster. Noda has to stay on the A’s major league roster all season or be offered back to the Dodgers, a favorable opportunity that he’s trying to take full advantage of. Noda is coming off a standout 2022 season with the Oklahoma City Dodgers that saw him tie for seventh in the Pacific Coast League in home runs , while finishing third in on-base percentage and first in walks .
He’s also showcased some skill on the basepaths, stealing 20 bases last season in Triple-A, a mark which ranked top-15 in the PCL. Noda has swiped 58 total bags in his career. “I think it’s a change of pace for sure,” said right-handed pitcher Paul Blackburn, who will make his first appearance Sunday since tearing the flexor tendon sheath in his pitching hand last August. “It kind of breaks up camp a little bit where you get a small road trip out of it and you go to a new city where I know I’ve played Triple-A there before. I know they’re excited for it and they’re going to pack it out and it’s going to be a fun atmosphere.
