MADRID - The leader of Spain’s conservative People’s Party said his party would be the main opposition force in parliament to Pedro Sanchez’s Socialists. In a Twitter posting after Sunday’s national election, in which the PP lost more than half of its parliamentary seats, Pablo Casado said the party would “head the opposition responsibly improve on the things we didn’t do well.”

Earlier, the head of centre-right Ciudadanos also said his party would be the main opposition to the Socialists. According to a provisional tally with over 99.6 percent of votes counted, the PP won 66 seats in the 350-seat legislature and Ciudadanos 57.
