The Denver area couple was bound for Japan — a “once-in-a-lifetime” trip with a solemn purpose.
As of 4:50 p.m. Tuesday, 350 flights through DIA were canceled, or more than one in six, almost evenly split between arriving and departing flights. The vast majority, 321, were from Southwest, according toIt was the second day in a row that DIA led the nation in cancellations by the percentage of all flights.
Nationally, The New York Times reported that the carrier canceled about 60% of Tuesday’s flights and already had called off 61% of flights Wednesday and 14% on Thursday. Those figures could rise.
