In a 5-2 vote, Cardston town council moved to end a blanket ban on alcohol sales, which has stood in the southern Alberta town for the past 121 years. Dozens of residents and local business leaders attended a public hearing on the matter, some voicing concerns about drunk driving and others claiming support for the economic boost from alcohol sales in the 3,700-person, majority Mormon community.
