Multiple Google Pixel 7 owners are taking to social media to report a strange situation: glass on the smartphone’s rear camera array is “spontaneously” shattering.
Across these varied cases, most users swear the phone never bumped into anything or was dropped before the damage appeared, leading some to guess that it might be caused by a change in temperature, such as going outside in the winter air and coming back into a heated home.
Mine went from a 16⁰C room to -2⁰C outside and shattered in 45 minutes, that's well within the operating temperature range and not unusual for winterAt this point, there does not appear to be a definitive reason for the damage, and the reported response from Google has been mixed.
Even if the issue persists and becomes more widespread, it may still be quite some time before a cause for the damage is nailed down.
