A councillor representing Ayr East Ward has announced his decision to join the Alba Party, citing renewed optimism for Scotland's future after hearing a speech by Ash Regan at the party's conference. The councillor accuses the SNP of failing to deliver and stringing along its members.
Cullen, who represents Ayr East Ward, was elected in 2017 and re-elected last year as an SNP candidate.
Regan welcomed the councillor's move, having called on other SNP figures to join"Team Independence" within Alba on Saturday. He suggested that despite his current differences with party leadership, he believes these could be changed in the long-term.
