The sky turned red in parts of northwest Texas over the weekend as a powerful dust storm tore through the region.

New York City received its biggest snowfall of the season Monday night into Tuesday morning, with 1.8 inches on the ground in Central Park and up to 5.6 inches in the Bronx. More severe weather is in store this week in the South. The biggest threat will come Thursday night, when tornadoes, damaging winds and hail are possible in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Then on Friday evening, more snow will create a dangerous evening commute in the Great Lakes and the Northeast. The forecast so far shows rain in Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia, a wintry mix for New York City and heavy snow in New England.
