Snow can really be a bummer for runners, especially if it sidetracks your plan to hit the roads. One solution to slipping and sliding in your running shoes is snowshoeing, which can turn the chilly powder from fiend to friend.
The white stuff on the ground may not be prevalent throughout the country, but there are races in most regions of the United States. That’s why we asked the United States Snowshoe Association to give us a list of some of the ones they certify and also serve as qualifiers for the 2020 Snow Shoe National Championships, which will be held in Leadville, Colorado, in late February.
Just like most running races, you don’t have to be an elite to sign up. Whether you are an experienced snowshoer or a novice, these races have something for you. To get you started with these races should enter this winter, here are some tips from self-proclaimed ‘snowshoe guy’ and USSSA sports director Mark Elmore.
