The summer holidays are right around the corner
Skegness traders say they are heading into the crucial summer holiday period uncertain on how busy the resort will be. Ahead of the summer holidays beginning on Monday, July 24, traders were getting ready for their busiest period of the year on Friday, July 21, under an unsettled cloudy sky.
Glen Addison, owner of an ice cream van on the seafront, next to the pier, said: "We are not looking forward to the summer holidays. The weather has been absolutely horrendous on the East Coast. He added: "At the end of the day, it's seasonal. We have to earn enough to get through the winter. 30 per cent of my day is repeat customers.
He said he's unsure what footfall will be like throughout the summer holidays this year due to "how things are at the moment with the cost of living and the general state of things." Despite the uncertainty, Mr Matthews said he remains "optimistic" about trade for the weeks ahead.
