“It was a very brave thing for him to do it because it was such a public event,” Chu said. “I was very grateful that he said yes, despite the fact that it was, I’m sure, intimidating and difficult, but he wanted to show what happens in Monterey Park and he wanted to talk about being a survivor and what they were going through.
