British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to acquire a 25 per cent stake in Man United, with some reports claiming it is on the brink of being finalised.
Prospective Manchester United investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already outlined the importance of avoiding failure at Old Trafford amid his quest to secure a 25 per cent stake in the club.
The Manchester Evening News understands that Sheikh Jassim "desperately" attempted to convince the Glazers to sell the club they have owned since 2005. As a result of the Qatari pulling out of the race, Ratcliffe is now in pole position to win the race, though he does not plan to complete a full takeover.
Investing in the infrastructure of the club and its leading facilities will be key to Ratcliffe's hopes of getting the supporters onside and backing him and his investment. To the billionaire's credit, though, he has already recognised that failing to make his mark, if successful in the takeover race, will have consequences.
