Three premises across Chorley and South Ribble twice failed the test purchases
Three shops which were caught selling knives to children again failed their duties when they allowed underage shopppers to purchase alcohol.
The shops, located across Chorley and South Ribble, were tested in a joint operation by Lancashire Police and council officers and staff have hit with fines as a result. Full inspections of the stores were also carried out and formal reviews of each one could lead to licences being revoked. Underage purchasers were deployed at 10 premises on Friday, with three of those allowing children to buy alcohol. All three of those had sold knives to children in a previous test just weeks earlier. On that day, a total of five out 15 shops across the boroughs failed the test purchase.
"All Licensed Premises have an obligation to uphold the Licensing Objectives of the Prevention of Crime & Disorder and the Protection of Children Against Harm, where there is evidence of a premises failing these responsibilities, we will take robust action. "Shop staff at the 3 premises have been issued with £90 fixed penalty notices and full inspection of the premises was completed. We are now looking to apply to the Local Authorities for a formal review of the Premises Licence, this could result in revocation of an alcohol licence."
