A host of labels served up their interpretations of the slinky spaghetti-strap stalwart. No 21’s Alessandro dell’Acqua, who has long had bedroom eyes for-inspired details, created transparent slip dresses in gauzy ruched tulle and peachy pink lace, revealing high-waisted knickers beneath.
Fendi’s Kim Jones – who referenced two collections designed by former longtime creative director Karl Lagerfeld, one from 1986 and one from 2000 – created peekaboo slip dresses festooned with delicate frills, while Erdem’s softly rumpled déshabillé interpretation featured floral beading and pleated details, evoking ensembles worn by Berlin’s creative class in the 1930s. Jil Sander and Saint Laurent’s proposed palate-cleansing colours? Nighttime slips in tones of ivory, white and cream.
