Sheriff's Dept.: Driver in 'road-rage incident' shoots pellet gun at vehicle, leading to crash [Breaking]
A driver shot a pellet gun at a vehicle, which later crashed and caught fire, in what authorities described as a “road-rage incident” in Vista on Wednesday, sheriff’s officials said.
The incident happened about 9 a.m. on Foothill Drive near Bonair Road, San Diego County sheriff’s Lt. Eric Cottrell said in a statement. He said the 20-year-old driver of an Acura pulled up alongside a Nissan and shot out it’s side windows with a pellet gun.The two vehicles kept going, traveling at a high rate of speed, for about a mile until the Acura crashed into a Scion and a Chevrolet truck stopped at an intersection at Foothill and Vale Terrace drives, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The driver of the Scion complained of pain and was taken to a hospital, according to the Sheriff’s Department. Firefighters searched the truck of the Acura and found drugs and marijuana in trash bags, Cottrell said. Both the driver and passenger were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and drug sales.
