San Francisco police announced on Sunday that they made an arrest in connection with an unprovoked beating of longtime public servant Greg Chew.
We first brought you the story about the injuries 70-year-old Greg Chew suffered after he was attacked near his South of Market Area home at 3rd and Folsom Streets.On Sunday morning, police took 34-year-old Derrick Yearby into custody in connection with the Aug. 2 attack. "Fortunately in this incident, there was good photos and video," said SFPD public information officer Kathryn Winters. "Officers in this incident were able to locate and identify this suspect fairly quickly. So some great officers out there in the field doing good police work."Yearby has been booked into the San Francisco county jail on felony assault charges.Police still considers this case to be an open investigation despite the arrest.
