Showers and thunderstorms began developing east of Interstate 35 about 8 a.m., but a second, more-severe batch of storms is set to take hold between 4 and 7 p.m...

The main hazard was large hail — the size of a quarter or larger — but winds surpassing 40 mph and “a tornado or two” were also possible, the weather service said earlier in the day.

Rubble was scattered across the parking lot and chunks of its outer walls and roof remained on the ground. Half of its storefront sign was upright: “of Dallas.”David Mullins, the general manager of the dealership, said the staff heard about the possibility of tornadoes forming right across from them on State Highway 183.

As storms continue to move through North Texas, a little more than 9,000 customers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are without power, according to Oncor.Dallas Area Rapid Transit said its bus and rail passengers should expect delays due to severe weather across North Texas. As of 4 p.m., more than 300 flights were delayed at DFW Airport and 6% of the flights were canceled. Fixty-six flights were delayed at Love Field and 7% of its flights were canceled.
