President Joe Biden on Friday hailed manufacturing-job gains as he celebrated a much-stronger-than-expected U.S. jobs report for September. Talking up his 'Bidenomics' economic program, the president said 815,000 manufacturing jobs had been created since he took office. His remarks coincided with National Manufacturing Day. The sector added 17,000 new jobs in September, a figure celebrated by the Alliance for American Manufacturing.
'After a long period of stagnant hiring in factories, it’s good to see slow and steady job growth again,' said the group's president, Scott Paul, in a statement. 'While there’s still many reasons for concern — high interest rates, uncertainty because of the chaotic nature of Congress, foreign currency interventions, and more — I believe manufacturing has a bright future ahead,' Paul said.
