Over the last week, a handful of powerful CEOs around the country have all issued warnings about one 2020 Democratic candidate in particular: Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

Now, the criticism from the nation's wealthiest may feed into a key part of her anti-corruption platform, even boosting the very idea of her wealth tax, as her supporters see it."When billionaires are claiming they can't afford to pitch in to a two-cent wealth tax, there are a whole lot of reasons to be angry," the Warren campaign said in a fundraising email to supporters on Friday afternoon.

Over the past week, at least three different billionaires have aired their grievances of Warren's wealth tax. Cooperman was also asked, however, if he thought criticism coming from a billionaire like himself could backfire. And Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft with a net worth of over $107 billion and by far the richest billionaire to criticize Warren's wealth tax, joined in on the criticism Wednesday.

According to the calculator, Gates would pay around $6.3 billion next year under the wealth tax, while Cooperman would pay $151 million next year.

So What If Elizabeth Warren Is Angry? So What If Elizabeth Warren Is Angry?“Is Elizabeth Warren ‘angry’ and antagonistic? Or are rivals dabbling in gendered criticism?” asks a recent Washington Post headline. It’s a question we should already know the answer to, given Warren’s Senate campaign in 2012, where her Republican opponent attempted to paint her as too stern and out of touch; or the dynamics of the 2016 presidential campaign; or the treatment of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other progressive women in Congress, or any basic understanding of women’s lives.
