Sega Announces Space Channel 5 and Comix Zone Film Adaptations
Sega is not done putting its video game franchises on the silver screen. The company is making films based on the Genesis beat-em-up, which are games that released in 1995 and 1999, respectively.is going to be a “comedy/dance adaptation” of the game and be about a fast food worker who has been recruited by a reporter from the future to save the world using “silly viral dances.” Barry Battles and Nir Paniry are set to write the film.
is going to follow a jaded comic creator and a young, queer writer of color after they get sucked into the final issue of a comic series. The two will have to work together to escape and stop a supervillain. The report states that it will also “wittily explore the ever-evolving art of storytelling itself.” Mae Catt is writing this film and is most known for DC’sPicturestart’s Royce Reeves-Darby, Erik Feig, and Samie Kim Falvey are set to produce the films alongside Sega’s Toru Nakahara.
