Second fire in two days ignites along U.S.-Mexico border [Breaking]
A brush fire that ignited south of Dulzura charred 40 acres Tuesday, the second blaze to burn along the U.S.-Mexico border in two days.
The fire was first reported around 10:10 a.m. near the south end of Marron Valley Road by the Tijuana River, Cal Fire Capt. Thomas Shoots said. By noon, the blaze had burned about 20 acres and had crossed into Mexico. About 125 San Diego County firefighters and around 15 firefighters from Mexico were working to put out the flames, Shoots said. Several firefighting aircraft were assisting.
The fire was about 5 percent contained as of Tuesday afternoon and is several miles east of another fire that started near the border Monday night. That blaze started sometime before 9:40 p.m. a few miles east of the Otay Mesa community, and charred 30 acres.
