One of the players implicated in the reported rape was booked into jail Thursday on unrelated child pornography charges
The San Diego County District Attorney’s Office on Thursday released 10 search warrants obtained by San Diego police investigating a teenager’s allegations she’d been raped in fall 2021 by then-members of San Diego State University’s football team.
With the release of the documents, the District Attorney’s Office issued a statement that the 10 warrants “demonstrate the amount of investigative work that was done in order to pursue the truth.” It noted that the evidence gathered by serving warrants is used to evaluate potential criminal charges. In her suit, the woman said Araiza, then 21, had sex with her in a side yard of the residence before bringing her into a bedroom. She said a group of men in that bedroom took turns raping her.
In all of them, detectives sought digital information that could help them identify who was involved in the alleged crime and to uncover evidence. In the last warrant, investigators sought information in an unrelated child pornography investigation that was uncovered by detectives. The teenager, referred to in the documents as Jane Doe, told detectives there were multiple people in the room, all male, and said she was not scared but felt “defeated” and knew that something was going to happen.
