Sean Payton said Wednesday he would be interested in an NFL head-coaching return in 2023 if it’s the “right situation.”
The 58-year-old Payton said he would need to share the same vision with the team’s ownership and the front office.
Payton, who was New Orleans’ head coach for 16 seasons, will still have two seasons left on his Saints contract after the 2022 season. That means if he were to take an NFL coaching job next season, his new team would have to compensate the Saints. “This past weekend’s game versus Tampa was the first time I had a version of FOMO [fear of missing out],” he said. “I was jealous of everyone that was there, including random Bruce Arians on the sidelines.”
