Chrissy Hart, from Boston, was hit with a £500 bill for an alternative flight home.
A tourist visiting Edinburgh says she was hit with a bill of £500 after missing her flight due to becoming trapped in a hotel lift.
As her trip was pre-organised, Chrissy says it was the organisation that had to pay the £500 for new flights, meaning a hit to their much-needed funds. Chrissy is now asking that Marriot, who run Moxy hotel, foot the bill so that the money can go towards their campaigning and projects. “It was warm and uncomfortable – far from the ideal experience. I actually managed to stay relatively calm in the end. I surprised myself."
She said: I was having to phone the technician but he was very busy and that’s why he took so long. I was phoning down to the desk and they didn’t really seem to know what was going on. The communication wasn’t great."
