The Scottish Government is renting an office just yards from the HQ of the European Commission.
The Scottish Government is continuing to rent a plush £500,000 office in Brussels – three years after Britain left the EU.
The EU closed its office in Edinburgh after Brexit and opposition parties have now questioned whether retaining a presence in Brussels is the best use of public money. Scotland House is managed by business grants agency Scottish Enterprise through Scotland Europa Limited. Earlier this year it emerged a group set up to maintain links between Scotland and the EU which operated from the building could be banned.
“The public will be seriously questioning why this money is being spent during a global cost-of-living crisis and when our public services are under great strain.”
